Chasing Away The Bad News Bandit

Published by mrschadt under Uncategorized Edit This

Have you ever had one of those days where nothing seemed to go right?  Perhaps your car broke down, you lost your wallet, or an important relationship has ended unexpectantly all in the same day.

Recently I read a story.

A fisherman and his two sons had gone out to sea.  The day was beautiful and the waters calm.  Then came a storm so furious that the fisherman and his two sons were battling for their lives.  Darkness fell and their only beacon of hope to get home was the light of the lighthouse shining from the nearby shore.  Yet, the light went out and just when they began to feel dispair, another light rose from the horizon beyond the lighthouse.

The new light, had been the result of lightning striking the fisherman’s house and erupting his home in a great ball of fire.  Reaching the shore he and his sons were exhausted, but his wife rushed towards them.  Tearfully, she told him the news about their home.  The fisherman held his dear wife and allowed her to cry.  After a short while she pulled back and asked him why he didn’t seem upset over the loss of their home.

The fisherman informed his wife, had it not been for the lightning striking their home, and the fire caused the lightning he and his sons would have never gotten back to shore with out the light of the fire.

We have all gone through phases in our lives like these in our lives.  Our house many not burn down, but our car breaks, our wallets disappear, jobs are no longer available, and relationships end. Most of the time, it is these bad misfortunes that lead us back home.

Today, don’t let misfortune destory your hopes, but guide you to a new destination.
