Encourage One Another and Pass It On
You are here, by God’s design to be encouraging and faithful.
Yet, there are so many of us who forget or have not yet discovered the truth of our design - to encourage one another. Instead we find ways to cut down and insult others to build ourselves up on invisable podiums of self esteem.
“The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” (Romans 15:1)
The old saying still falls true today, “if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.” It’s hard to bite our tongues when we encounter someone or something that brings out the worst of words from our mouths. Nobody wants to hear how ugly you feel thier appearl or God’s design is to you.
Instead look upon a person and find the beauty and unique features of their designs. It might not first be apparent, but when we look deep inside a person we can find the thread of a compliement there. You just might find yourself getting to know that person a lot whole better in the discovery process, where else you may never have gotten to know interesting things about another person.
Yesterday, I sat at the park. While my kids played in wait of the school bus to come, a woman sat beside me. She was a mother of nine, and had tons of grandchildren. Her manner may have seemed crude on the outside, she was aged with salt and peper hair, but her heart when she looked out over the playground towards her daughters and grandkids playing was glowing with love.
I could have gotten up and walked away, but then I would have never learned anything, or discovered the glow in her heart for her family. God had designed her in a special way. Before I parted with my children from the playground, I encouraged this woman to enjoy the rest of her afternoon and she thanked me.
“Pleasant words are a honey comb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” (Prov 16:24)
Who will you encourage today? Will your words be filled with honey or full of insults? How would you want someone to speak to you?
