Wanted Dead or Alive
Jesus was the most sought out man while He lived, and even after His death, we still seek Him.
When asked about the true meaning of Easter, an eleven year old boy replied, “It’s the day Jesus died.” Not quite right, but certainly closer than many of us think today.
Funny. Today is called “Good Friday,” but what is so good about it? They killed an innocent man! The only innocent man who ever walked the earth (or ever will). The Good News actually comes two sunrises later…
Three days after they pierced His hands and hung Him on the cross till death, Jesus rose again and left the tomb empty. His resurrection was the Good News. Jesus conquered death. He made a path for mankind to eventually come into the presence of a perfect, holy God.
A feat so remarkable, the Sabbath (Saturday) was replaced by Sunday as a holy day with a weekly remembrance of His resurrection as opposed to an annual celebration.
In John 15:13, Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” Jesus laid down His life. He did it for his friends, whom he loved. But who are his friends? He tells us in the next verse: “You are my friends if you do what I command.” Look at that; He did it for YOU!!
What have you done for your friends lately? Today, look at who your friends are. What can you do to strengthen that friendship? See if you can “lay down your life for your friends.” I’m not implying that you have to die, but deny yourself so that you may lift them up. Set aside your pride, if only for a day, and put other’s before you.
Pass on the meaning of friendship and the impact the life of another can have in your life.
(psst… where’s your Easter lily? I’m curious to know how many lives you’ve impacted by one flower.)
