Hanging From the End of a Knotted Rope
I’m always quite sad when I hear people tell me they are at the end of their rope and they’re ready to slide off. I met such a person only a few days ago, and become speechless to hear that this person was ready to give up, and to even die because life had left them empty.
Knowing this person was dangling at the end of their rope, I was reminded of something I once heard someone say, “When your at the end of your rope, tie a knot in it, and hang on until you are strong enough to climb again.”
Are you out of work? Drowning your sorrows in alcohol? Feeling depressed, sad, or lonely? No matter what the case is, don’t let go of the rope. Tie a knot in it and hang on. Don’t tie it around yourself, but simply tie a knot and give yourself a better grip instead of letting go and giving up on the things in life that have got you down.
Today, be reminded that God created you. He has a purpose for you, and the trials and tribulations you are facing today are just life experiences to chalk on the board of your life’s resume. Those experience may not be easy. They can be emotionally and physically draining to some of us, but when we have brought victory over those drier times it enables us to just tie another knot in our ropes and climb towards our intended purpose.
Perhaps it’s not you hanging at the end of a knotted rope, but someone you know. Be supportive, encouraging, and offer to help or get help for that person.
Who do you know? (no names please) What can you do to help, encourage, and support those going through a bad time?
